Sweet, sweet sleep

Sleep.  I never use to get much.  At all.  It was a huge issue for me.  I would wake up at least 4-5 times during the night.  Then I would awake around 4am and not be able to get back to sleep.  I was constantly exhausted.  I tried everything from sleeping tablets through to being so active during my day that I could barely walk by 7pm.

That was until I went on this new eating plan.  I’m happy to report that I’m sleeping better waking up only once during.  That’s usually to go to the bathroom given the amount of water I drink during the day or to let the dogs out to do their business.

Each morning Mr Man wakes me at 6am.  Now I’m now falling back to sleep until 8am – very different from before where I would’ve been awake for hours.  When I finally get out of bed now, I’m not groggy or slow.  I’m up and about and doing my stuff before leaving for work.

So, not only is my waste line shrinking, but I’m getting fabulously uninterrupted sleep during the night.

It’s making sure a difference to me on a day-to-day basis.

Tomorrow is weigh-in day.  I strayed just once this week when I had to go to a client lunch.  I chose the simplest dish on the menu (grilled prawn and salad – without the dressing), but it totally reacted with my system.  Two hours later I was in the bathroom until my body cleared it out.  Not pleasant at all!

I’m amazed that after 20 days of ‘clean eating’, my system is already use to this diet.  The great thing is I don’t want to eat anything that’s off-diet now.  Another great benefit – I don’t even feel like drinking now – in fact it kind of turns my stomach at the thought of having anything alcohol related.  Things are looking up.

  1. Great news about getting more sleep. It makes all the difference in the world. Best of luck on your weigh-in. I’m sure you’ll do great. But the best part is you’re already feeling better no matter what happens with the scale. So keep on doing what you’re doing.
